Welcome to the pipe factory on the Inselsberg Around 1900, pipes were made in several factories in Tabarz. The century-old Tabarz tradition of pipe-making lives on here. In the workshop of Peter Filß you can learn all about it: What does Ruhla clockmaking have to do with pipes? What is sea foam? ...and what exactly is briar wood all about? Peter Filß makes the pipes from the finest Italian briar wood and "old school" materials such as rosewood, horn, boxwood, gold, silver and much more. He learned his skills from Hans Kallenberg and now offers a wide range of handmade pipes. During a guided tour, Peter Filß shows you the work steps from the raw wood to the pipe shape and explains his special tricks for making the unique pipe from Bad Tabarz. During a visit to the workshop, visitors not only learn about the history of smoke and people, but also about the craftsmanship of our region.
