Tabarzer Trachtenausstellung

The main attraction of the exhibition are the dolls in "Tabarzer Schurztracht", which was chosen as the German costume of the year in 2019. There are many examples of all areas of rural life around1850, such as the Kirmseheid (fair), to the shepherd customs, work costumes, art weavers, wedding and school. Much is documented by stylishly dressed dolls and pictures. Of course, there are also many picture carriers that tell about the history of the costume group, which finds its first mention in 1908. In the reading hall, which is located in the upper part of the Winkelhof spa park, a small exhibition has been created in honor of the commercial councillor Carl Ferdinand Grübel. He rendered great services to the preservation of traditional costumes and to the improvement of the position of linen and art weavers. The land on which the reading hall stands belonged to him and he donated it to the municipality of Tabarz in 1915.
